8th Pay Commission 2025, Timeline, Economic Impact A major update for the central government- the Narendra Modi-led Union government on Thursday said it doesn’t have any proposal under consideration to form the 8th Pay Commission. To a question put forward by Member of Parliament on when the Government would be constituting the 8th Pay Commission, Minister of State of Finance Pankaj Chaudhary in a reply to Lok Sabha today stated that at present no such proposals are there which come under consideration.
On Monday, opposition MPs Jai Prakash, Anand Bhadoria and V. Vaithilingam had sought to know from the government its plans to form the 8th Central Pay Commission. The Lok Sabha MPs questioned the reasons for the delay in constituting the 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC) and also highlighted “resentment among central government employees” due to rising prices and stagnant pay structures.

No Proposal for 8th Pay Commission 2025
In response to the query, Union Minister Pankaj Chaudhary said the 7th Pay Commission was constituted on 28 February 2014, and presently, the government does not have any proposal pending for the formation of the 8th Central Pay Commission. No such proposal is under consideration with the government for constitution of 8th Central Pay Commission for central government employees, at present,” the minister said, adding that the question of a timeline does not arise as there is no proposal yet.
The Centre’s response has been a great disappointment for more than 48 lakh central government employees and nearly 65 lakh pensioners, who had been expecting a salary increase in the 8th Pay Commission.
